Video recordings of the seminar presentations are now available online.
In May 2026, for the second year running, a joint Irish Historic Towns Atlas/Irish Walled Towns Network seminar explored the theme of ‘Water, Towns and Topography’. The seminar, which took place on the 20 May, focused on Ireland, Britain and Central Europe. It compared the influence of rivers on urban landscapes, the role of water in communication, trade networks and leisure pastimes through the perspective of the IHTA and walled towns.
President of the Royal Irish Academy, Daniel Carey, and Board Member of the Heritage Council, Sheila Pratschke, welcomed attendees to the Meeting Room of the Royal Irish Academy.
