In anticipation of the world opening up to visitors, our webinar ‘Sharing your walled town heritage’ was designed to explore the different ways we can share and promote the stories of our walled towns. There are many ways to engage with both our communities and visitors, including tours, interpretation panels and events.
Speakers on the day were: Mark Mohan of Ireland’s Ancient East, Fáilte Ireland spoke about outdoor interpretation in Meath; Kate Chandler and Sheila Robinson spoke about the fantastic community and visitor engagement at the award-winning 14 Henrietta Street museum; Marc Guernon (Athy), Mario Corrigan (Kildare) and Megan Woods (Carlingford) spoke about their experiences in setting up and running walking tours; Sharon Greene of Abarta Heritage gave tips on creating interpretation panels; and Sarah McCutcheon, Limerick City and County Council’s Executive Archaeologist, told us about the background to and the development of Kilmallock’s Wall Walk.
